jonr Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I'd like to set the "Enlarge window contents to improve readability" preference in a runtime. Unless I'm missing something, there's no way to script this, nor is there a way to specify it when building the runtime. I'm omitting Edit/Preferences... from my custom menus. So the only way I can see to accomplish this is: 1. Hide a button somewhere that calls "Open Preferences". 2. Build the runtime. 3. Open the runtime and hit the button; then select the "Enlarge..." setting. 4. Distribute the runtime to users. Is there no better way?
Inky Phil Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Can you not use the set zoom to achieve much the same thing Phil
jonr Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 "Enlarge window contents to improve readability" adjusts to the user's screen dimensions. SetZoom isn't "smart" like that, so I don't think I can use it. Thanks anyway.
Wim Decorte Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 That setting is not stored in a file, it belongs to the application (runtime or FMP). Even if you set it on your machine it will not be "saved" with the runtime and when you install the runtime somewhere else the setting will be off. On Windows, there's a registry key that controls it. Here's the path to it for a runtime named "F1_history_runtime" (created in 8.5) HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareFileMakerF1_history_runtime8.5Preferences The key name is "Expand", the required value is "1". (the key is a REG_SZ). If you're using an installer you can have it create the proper key...
jonr Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Ah yes, of course. Thanks for the info. By the way, where would one go for such registry key info in the future?
Wim Decorte Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Not sure I understand your question... HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareFileMaker Is the root of all FM related registry keys. From there on it branches per fm version.
