Hi All.

I keep hearing about this FMStudio that is going to be released and I can't help but wonder how the installation issues are handled. I have tried to use FX.php before with some tutorials from the web but I was always stumped by the installation steps - it always seems that something is wrong with either PHP or FX. Would there be any manuals or feedback from FMStudio when things go wrong?

Could this be the gateway that will finally allow me to web publish and join the web applications club?

Best,

Jose

Hi Jose,

Thank you for your question. I will address yuour question in two parts. FMStudio is a FileMaker Server Model created for Dreamweaver. FMStduio is installed by using the Dreamweaver extension installer. Now here is the amazing part. FMStudio will actually install FX.php and the FileMaker API for PHP for you. If you watch the login movie at http://www.fmwebschool.com/movies/fmstudio/fmsite/fmsite3.html you will see that FMStudio automatically installs FX.php in a matter of seconds. Also FMStudio is fully documented and supported by Help movies.

I encourage you to check out this site: http://www.fmwebschool.com/fmstudio.php as we are adding more resources every day!

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Hi Stephen,

After looking through the newly added movie, I must say that I am truly impressed! So much power, yet so simple. Looks like it's a great start for me after not trying web publishing for some time - this time I finally feel that my confidence level is high enough to succeed in this endeavor!

Also that's a very interesting portal video in Dreamweaver MX that you have done - I was curious if portals were implemented in FMStudio, and the video just made it seem so simple.

Thanks,

Jose

Hi Jose,

Thank you for your kind words! The Dynamic Portal tool is built into FMStudio. You can actually see the portals and the fields contained in the portals in FMStudio. You can simply drag and drop the fields and display them live in Dreamweaver. http://www.fmwebschool.com/movies/fmstudio/portal/portal.html

Notice that I install FX.php, Create a table, automatically create a portal section and then drag and drop live data to create the portal. Thats all there is to it.

I hope this helps.

Hi Thank you very much! Actually we have been discussing a demo version, we are discussing how this would be implemented.

Recently we were invited to FileMaker and Adobe Inc. to demonstrate FMStudio. The trip was wonderful and we were able to discuss in detail many features and benefits that we could add that would be beneficial to the FileMaker community.

We left California with 15 core features and changes that we are busily implementing. Many of which will be available in our new update today.

We have also updated our help videos:

http://www.fmwebschool.com/fmstudio_user_videos.php

And we have just released a new Quick Start Guide:

http://www.fmwebschool.com/FMQS.pdf

We feel like the movies here as well as on our website demonstrate many of the features available in FMStudio.

I am sure we will release a demo in time, but currently we are busy adding new features and aggressively supporting our product.
