Totes Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 (edited) Hello Everyone, I was just looking at an audit program someone posted here from nightwing.com.au and at the top of the toolbar, there is a text link for “Nightwing”. I did not see any program on their site which would allow this feature. How did they get that there? I’ve looked over the custom menu section, but am unable to see any method for inserting an item such as this. James Edited December 26, 2006 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi James, and Welcome to the Forum. Are you talking about the "About" Script? If so, then it is just opening a second layout. If not, let us know what it is really doing, and also the name of Demo (i.e. Audit Tracking System) and the database file name (i.e. AuditTracker.fp7). Lee
Totes Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 Hi Lee, No, this was actually part of the top toolbar: file, edit, view insert etc. Here is a screenshot: Screenshot Here The audit trail is called Supe Log System. Thanks, James
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 File > Define > Custom Menus... (available in Pro Advanced ... which your profile says you have)
Totes Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 Stuart, I have poked every button in the CM but am unable to add anything like that to the toolbar. What am I doing wrong?
LaRetta Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Actually, NightWing has renamed their script menu to NightWing all the way back through vs. 6. It's done with FM Advanced (the old Developer) in the Developer Utilities. :wink2:
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi LaRetta, Your right of course ... the developer utility does also let you rename the "scripts" menu option. What are you trying to achieve here ... surely with custom menu's in the Advanced version that you are running you have much more flexibility and can rename/customise any menus you like (exept the "FileMaker Pro" option) Plus you can easily do this with Custom Menus... in Advanced
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Example Attached for you to poke around in... CustomMenu.fp7.zip
LaRetta Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi Stuart, Yep. I just wanted to be sure people knew they could rename ScriptMaker anything they like - even before Custom Menus in vs. 8 - that's where this trick came from and why Ray's vs. 6 demos also have ScriptMaker name changed. So even with vs. 6 or 7, this one option is available to them. :wink2:
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 (edited) Post removed ... forum hung during post Edited December 26, 2006 by Guest
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi LaRetta, Sorry that wasn't aimed at you ... its good advice for the wider community. X Abn Ranger as you are running 8.5 Advanced i would expect that you would benefit from the power of custom menu's so i posted a little example. If youve got it flaunt it I say :o
LaRetta Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 (edited) Well Stuart, you only need to say it once. ROFLAMO! Understood. I just wanted everyone to know that, in Ray's demo, it wasn't done with Custom Menus. In fact, it shows nothing in Custom Menus for [scripts] on them; it might be confusing if someone thought Custom Menus handled it instead of Advanced. Custom Functions is surely the way to go now! UPDATE: I deleted your extra post for you. ^) Edited December 26, 2006 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi Stuart, Nice example on how to install the Custom Menus. Lee
Totes Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 Thanks to everyone for the info...still kinda of new to all the FM features...but learining as I go. James
Stuart Taylor Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 The greatest developement challange is that of the developement of the Developer. hehe :o
