label preview fine but breaks some and cuts off other lines when printing

Hi

I'm using FM 6.0v4. I have a label layout which is for most of its fields (except the name of the contact) using fields from a core (common) file of shared in formation in a relational database. The print preview of the labels looks fine but when I print it it breaks some lines in the middle and inserts the end of these in a new line like so.

Mr. Ronan Foley

Ecclestiacial Insurance Office

plc

67 Fitzwilliam Square

Dublin 2

The label is easily big enough and similar 2nd lines in other addresses are longer and a printing OK....

Also some addresses are putting the surname (family name) on the 2nd line...hence

Mr. Andrew

Langford.....

There is no reason for this that I can find.

Does anyone have any ideas?

There are two things I don't understand.

1) FileMaker's built in help suggests

a) moving the body one pixel up or down depending on whether the names / addresses are being increasingly pushed down or up the page and

B) adjusting the height of the header if the names / addresses are not spaced (between each whole name and address) properly.

I understand B) but when they say move one pixel the only way I can see to change the sizes of the body is to drag it (I have to make it large to get one pixel at a time movement) - do I have this right or is there some way of inputting values in numeric format??

2) Filemaker has what seems to be Regional label formats. This is what I think I need. I'm using UK standard labels - these ones have 16 labels per page - but the trial and error of adjusting the format and printing off about 50 sheets of paper still hasn't got it right.

Their help on the Regional labels says:

'Using regional labels - Included on the English and French versions of the FileMaker Pro CD-ROM is a folder named FileMaker Label Files. This folder contains files with label specifications typically used in other regions. The FileMaker Pro installer will install the label file corresponding to your operating system's regional settings. To add label specifications from another region, copy the label file to the Labels folder inside the FileMaker Pro application folder.

The English version of the FileMaker Pro CD-ROM contains three files: LabelsAUS.flb, LabelsUK.flb, and LabelsUS.flb. These files contain specifications for labels typically used in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, respectively. The French version of the FileMaker Pro CD-ROM contains two files: LabelsFrench.flb and LabelsUS.flb, with specifications for labels typically used in France and the United States.'

I did all this but....then what? Am I supposed to 'install' these as an installation or does FileMaker mean literally what it says - i.e. 'copy' the label file into the labels folder? The trouble is that I did this latter and - well - then what? I can't get filemaker to 'see' or 'select' these labels anywhere - any ideas?

regards

If you click on a layout part "tag" (grey tag on the left side) in layout mode, while having your object info pallette open, then you can specify the size of the part in the pallette without dragging anything.
