Testing for an open window...

Featured Replies

Good Morning All,

I hope your weekends were good. I can test to see if a window is open using Select Window. However, if the window does not exist, how should I test for that? I could close the window (whether it exists or not) and reopen it, but that seems so non-elegant....

Thanks much,

Royce

I think that you can use a combinaton of the patterncount and the windownames functions to test for the existence of a window. They are both detailed in the online help

Thanks - I shouldn't have been so lazy...

It looks like the best ways are using WindowNames or Get(WIndowVisable). Using WIndowNames, you get a whole list of all windows that are open in a file...I can then test those to see if it is open.

Thanks for your help.
