Getting nervous on strange searching problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having a big problem... I transfered records from a corrupted DB on a clone, but all the indexes in the new db don't seem to work. When I'm doing a search on the primary key, it never finds the record. I tried with an existing record...

Does anyone had this problem before?

Try turning off indexing for each key field. Because they're in relationships, fm will rebuild the indices.

Out of curiosity, what version of FM 8 are you running?

The files have been developped in many versions.. 8v1, 8v2, 8v3, 8.5v1 and 8.5v2.

So the first solution, would be to remove all the indexes... D'OH!

I'll try this.

Thank you

Also, make sure, if this is served, that you're running the latest version of server. I believe there was a know issue with indices.

I do not see an update for version 8.5.v2

Hi Lee,

8.5v2 is Windows Specific update for those using Vista.

I will remove all the indexes live today. Hoping that doing this would not crash the DB!

Before you do that it is important that you upgrade all the 8.0v1 and 8.0v2 clients to 8.0v3.
