I just upgraded from 8 to 8.5 advanced and I have bumped into this issue. I have created a record that I can find (when serching for it specfically) but if I select show all records - it is not in the list. I can then serch for it specifically and find it... the total recod count does not include it either. If I close and open the file it hen appears like all the other recordss. Please help.

Were you using 8.0.3?

If you open the file in version 8.0.3, does it show in the Show All?

When you open and closed the file? Did that include FileMaker, or the File?

I am usin 8.5.

It is hapening again.

If I create a record and I have written a script to print a letter from the new record, my scripts is:

select all records

omit record

select omitted ( I do this to limit the records browsed to the one I am working with...)

go to x layout

print

What happens is the the file acts as if the new record does not exist. the record count does not increase and the record that prints is the very first record...

now if I quit the file (or Filemaker) and re-open the record now exists and the script works fine.

How do I get Filemaker to "accept" the new record?

thanks

Have you tried the commit record script step?

Aren't there settings for Create New Record on Commit? Or somthing like that. (not something I've delt with alot but I swear I saw that somewhere......)

I did try commit record & it works on one file but not on the other - I am doing basically the same scripting action - it just acts as it the records has not been "entered" into the data base...
