Highlight Portal Rows using Conditional Formatting

Featured Replies

I dunno if anyone has done this as a sample yet, but here is one just in case there isnt one out there already.

Highlighting portal rows in FM9 using conditional formatting.

It will work with seperation of data as well, so no more added relationships and calcs needed in the data file strictly for highlighting purposes.

Enjoy.

What's even cool to is that you can choose "DARK" colors now and then put an inverse condition the fields above so they switch to white as a better contrast for readability.

Also you can have "layout text" for system messages if some condition is met. For instructional purposes, and then just have them blend in to the background when condition is normal.

There are a number of tricks you can do with conditional formatting in portal rows. It's fun. Keep playing with it. Conditional formatting is the sleeper feature of version 9.

In response to a number of offline messages asking how exactly it would work with the seperation of data and interface, here is a new demo file.

This zip file includes a demo file of how it could have been done in versions 7 - 8.5 as well as the new way of doing it in FM9. As stated earlier, the benefit would be that in FM9 that no extra relationships would need to be created for the purpose of highlighting.
