hpw Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Hello! We just bought a FM Server 8 which will host our database on a LAN. Now I have to install FM Pro 8.5 on each workstation. What I want to happen is: Each staff member starts his workstation, logs onto his user account and automatically FM Pro starts and logs onto the shared database on FM Server 8. How do I organize this? The FM Server is on a Windows XP, the users all use Windows XP. Thanks, Hans
mr_vodka Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 For more info on Single Sign On, see the Server External Authentication Tech Brief. http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/techbrief_fm8_server_auth.pdf Pg 52 would be a start.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I'd also get FileMaker Server onto a machine running a server OS, not a workstation OS. Namely, Windows Server 2003. You'll find that these external functionalities work much better that way. Steven
