boyblunder Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I'm doing some PHP work with Dreamweaver and its telling me to go to my Root Folder. I can't figure out where the Root folder is on a Mac. Can you tell me? It seems I can't do a thing until I figure it out. Carl
wplate Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) It is the first level of any drive. If your hard drive is named "Macintosh HD", for example, the root is what you see when you double-click the "Macintosh HD" icon on your desktop. Or, if you were to click your hard drive in the sidebar of an OS 10.4 Finder window, you would be looking at the root level of the drive. Edited October 13, 2007 by Guest
boyblunder Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Hi Wplate, I’m using a Mac, FMStudio and Dreamweaver and could sure use your help. I’ve followed the quick stats both in print and in video trying to figure this out but nothing I do makes a difference. I cannot get a connection made to my FMP9A database. I fill in the Connection Name: The name of my solution FileMaker Server: (same one I use for IWP) User Name: Webuser (told to put this in by FMStudio) Password: The one I assigned Webuser Database: I click the Select button and I get "HSTTP Error Code 405 Method Not Allowed." When I click on “Connection Errors Help” I get the following. “405 Method Not Allowed This error is generally caused by IIS servers that cannot properly execute a request to the .php file extension. Common Causes: * PHP not installed on the Testing Server • Testing Server URL Prefix is incorrect and does not point directly into the site folder on the testing server” I know that part of the problem is I don’t understand what the message means as far as my knowing how to fix it and hope you can tell me. Carl
mindtpi99 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 (edited) I would have thought it was asking for the root directory for your website that you are defining. This is in /Library/WebServer/Documents If you use MAMP (which is pretty handy) you can set it to be anywhere you want. When you define the site in DreamWeaver just use http://127.0.0.1/ which leads to the above. Is this what you meant? Also, make sure PHP is definitely enabled in the php.ini file - if I were you though I'd just use MAMP, it's free and easy to use Edited December 13, 2007 by Guest
