Pretty new guy here trying to update a Filemaker application that my developer has had to drop. I have a date field with a pop-up of the calendar but I'm trying to get that date to fill in a "day of the week" i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in another "text" field.

Anyone have any ideas? The only thing I know is the date format function in Excel but there doesn't seem to be any similar function in Filemaker.

Could it be a "lookup" based on a value list of the days of the week?

Your question really can be read a couple of ways.

So, to clarify:

Are you wanting the field to show, based on the Calendar day choosen,

Monday, Oct 22, 2007

Or

Monday

Or are you just wanting to select the text of name from a list of names like this

Monday

Tuesday

Wendnesday

Thrusday

Friday,

etc.

and when they choose one of these, the field will contain the selection.

i.e. Monday

This would [color:red]not be a date in this case.

The function is DayOfWeek(). You can also place another instance of the date field on the same layout and format it to display the day of the week - alone or in combination with other parameters.
