I have a file with two related tables (A & :. In table A, I have a field titled "Start Date" that is non-repeating. In table B, I have another field "Start Date" that is repeating. The tables are related via an ID number.

I would like to be able to enter the unique ID numbers from table into a repeating field of ID numbers in table B and have the related unique dates from table A automatically be entered in the corresponding repetition in the "Start Date" repeating field in table B.

Right now, the last ID number entered in the ID number field in table B causes the corresponding Start Date from table A to appear in the first repetition of the field in table B. I cannot get more than the one value to appear regardless of the number of ID numbers entered.

Can someone help me here, or am I trying to do the impossible?

This sound a lot like the example file that FileMaker provided with your Application. You will have nothing but problems trying to convert them for you own needs. Dump the Repeating Fields, and create Related Records instead, and it will make your life a lot easier.

I couldn't really follow exactly what you wanted to do; mostly 'cause I'm both tired AND lazy :-]

But you might want to consider that when you Import from a table that has repeating fields into another table where the same field is not repeating, it asks you if you wish to break the repeats out into separate records. This is a fairly easy way to convert a table with a repeating field into a separate related table. All other data (not in repeating fields) is duplicated. Just tie it together with the ID. You can put the related field(s) on the layout in exactly the same place as you had your repeating field; it can look and work almost exactly the same (except for being unstored, which is the penalty, but with relationships, which is the gain).
