Executing a script when a Layout is selected

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Report that the user can access via the Layout dropdown. Is there a way to execute a script when the user goes to this Layout by selecting from the drop down menu (I know I can create a button on another layout that would execute a script and take the user to that Layout but this is not what I want to do).

thanks,

I do not believe that this is possible the way that you want to do it.

What does the script do that you want to fire?

With v8.5 [color:red]Advance, you can do this using a Web Viewer. Take a look at the movie here (you will have to subscribe, but the cost is very reasonable for the amount of knowledge and techniques you can have access to.)

ISO FileMakerMagazine

There are also some plugins available that you can use.

I need it to do a find and then a sort of the records found.

If it can't be easily done is there a way not to allow a user to go to that particular layout via the Layout drop menu? Or even hide the layout unless accessed via a button script else where?

thanks,

p.s.

You can also remove a Layout from showing in the Drop Down Menu above the Rolodex, by going to the

Layout Mode >> Layouts >> Set Layout Order >> Deselect the Checkbox.
