BluiSh Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I´m working with Filemaker Pro 8 advanced, the thing is that i have several scripts that use the go to related record script step to do another kind of functions in different related tables, the problem is that when I try to use "set field" to assign some data to a variable in the related child table and error displays and filemaker tells me that "the record can´t be modified because is use in another window"!!! I need to use go to related record and match all the records that apply main table to use them. Help please I´m trying several solutions and nothing.... Thanks Sincerely BluiSh
David Jondreau Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 You probably need a commit record step before the GTRR to close the record and its children.
BluiSh Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Thank you very much! seems that works great, I ahve another question? How do I become a member of TechNet and which are the benefits of being this kind of member??? Thanks BluiSh
Fenton Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 TechNet is a FileMaker Inc. mailing list. It costs $99/year. It's under the Community tab at their web site. It's a good web-and/or-email mailing list, somewhat like this one, but sometimes a bit more technical,* a bit closer to FileMaker Inc.. It is more like a regular mailing list. The web interface is good, but not as great as here, IMHO. The advantages, other than the list itself, are that you get some software. You get the FileMaker applications (Donations, etc., which you may or may not want to use), some graphics and themes (ditto). But the main software advantage is that you get a limited license for FileMaker Server Advanced, 3 connections. Which is not enough to deploy in a real situation, but is enough to let you learn to use it, which is the purpose. If you want to do any web development, or even support clients' use of Server, then you need this. *Sometimes. Though I think if you want in depth hands-on help with something you're developing, this forum is better, because of the ease of file attachments. Though you can also do that there. Perhaps it's just a different ambiance, as each list develops its own over time. We have more newbies here, probably because there is no up front cost (though you can and should subscribe or donate :-).
