Many to Many Separation? Hyper-Separation?

Featured Replies

OK so i made these terms up, but i was trying to work out a name that would explain what i would like to do.

I have 2 solutions they are both built using the separation model one is for a supplier and one is for distributes.

The suppliers trade with one off individual items. There are many suppliers.

The distributes often share suppliers and items from the same supplier.

The suppliers would like to share up to the minute information on the status of there items, so the distributes record would reference read only information about the status of individual items.

This way the supplier can update the status and all distributes are informed immediately.

Is this even feasible?

Any thoughts on how to achieve this?

Rather than relational links which i assume would be a massive problem to administer is it better to import data on request via XML or some other method?

Hi Stuart,

If its read only, could they just have data displayed in a web viewer? IOW, could the supplier system publish a web page of up to date data and then the distributer system could have up to date into in a webviewer that references the web page.

Hey Mr V

Thanks for the quick response.

The information is sensitive to anyone outside this group and i am not sure it is possible to reference specific records via instant web publishing.

Well if the info is sensitive, it could be password protected. As for IWP, I dont see why found sets could not be displayed.

Is it possible in iwp to embed a link that will take you straight to a specitic record via the webviewer without any interaction from the user?
