Our rapidly growing department (Informatics group of the Cancer Center at UCLA) has recently inherited 11 FileMaker databases (client-server, versions 5.5 and 9) for which we have varied amounts of documentation and knowledge. We need someone to help us do some troubleshooting and development, as well as assess the implications of and make recommendations regarding upgrades for the older versions.

This is a limited appointment (3-6 months) with the possibility to roll-over into a full-time position for those with more a more robust development skill set (LAMP, Ruby, Python, XML, HTML, etc.)

The qualified candidate will:

* have built at least one FileMaker-based, fully functional, multi-user application (and preferably have sample)

* have reverse-engineered at least one FileMaker-based, fully functional, multi-user application (and preferably have sample)

* have worked with older versions of FileMaker and have knowledge about the limitations of such, as well as accepted workarounds

* understand FileMaker's access rights system and, preferably, have experience with a custom login system

* be willing to work onsite (though offsite will be considered for the right candidate)

Extra bonus points:

* experience using an issue/bug tracking system (preferably fogbugz)

* background in clinical research or development of related applications

* working knowledge of more traditional web-app development environments (LAMP, Ruby, Python, etc.)

* handled at least one upgrade from FileMaker 5 (or lower) to FileMaker 7 (or higher)

Compensation: $50 - 65K annually, DOE

Please send your resume as well as an email indicating how you meet the qualifications. Please use a subject line of "FileMaker Developer for You" and send to [color:blue]cmartin at mednet.ucla.edu.

Also, if you need any additional info, please post here so that everyone can benefit from my response.

Thanks!

Courtney
