Need help with 'lending library' template

Hello everyone, I am looking for advice or a freelancer to solve a problem I have using the FP7 template lending library. I am working for a outdoor-play lending library and want to use this template for controlling/lending/monitoring our stock.

If any freelancer is reading this and want to send me a quote or if you have more questions you can drop me an email to [email protected]

so here s the brief

Desciption of problem

I used the template 'lending library' which comes with filemaker pro. Problem here is that there is no reservation option (I call this booking!). The 'check out' option doesnt work for booking because you cant set a date for the outgoing date, it automatically takes the date from that day you check it out, there is no way to modify this.

What do we want to be able to do

We are a lending library and we need to be able to book items in advance for customers and the system needs to show us automatically when we want to loan out the item, but it might be booked in for someone of the same time frame.

Example (how it should be) -

item x is booked for the period from 13.11. - 20.11., a customer is coming in on the 10.11. and wants to loan item x for 5 days. While the check out process the system will not allow the loan for this time frame and give a message like "item x is booked from 13.11. - 20.11.".

I see one options to solve this

-writing a script for 'booking' and add it to the template (having a booking button next to 'check out' and 'check in' see screenshot link below) NOTE - in the screenshot you see got 2 fields I put in the template 'booked from' and 'booked to', obviously if we have a booking process similar to the check out process, the dates from where to when an item is booked should be displayed somewhere-the screenshot shows you where it would be most userfriendly for us!

here s the link to the screenshot

you will find the template 'lending library' in filemaker pro under templates

cool -

Please post advice here and send quotes to [email protected]

Thx Tobi

Did you ever figure out an answer to this problem?

I'm in a similar boat and need a booking button, let me know if you found a fix!

K.

did you look at the links in his Post?

The orange strings are links to other Topics where this is discussed.

Hi I'm not seeing anything orange, but I did click the blue links and couldn't make head nor tail of what was being talked about.

I know nothing about this software or how it works and am looking into this as bespoke software we have just been quoted is $30,000 for a license!

Hence trying to take some free templates and making them work for our needs.

Where would be a good place to pitch my needs to a filemaker expert who may be able to customise the template to our requirements without me battling all this jargon? I have a budget!

K.

This is a rather advanced subject, and it will require a bit more than just adapting a factory template.

Where would be a good place to pitch my needs
