Can FilemakePro 9 perform as a file server on a local network without each computer on the network having it's own copy of FilemakerPro installed? If so, how many computers can share a file at the same time? If not, is there any version of FilemakerPro that can share files without every computer having FilemakerPro installed?

Could you please elaborate on what you are trying to do and why? Why dont you just use a file server itself? What is the purpose of FileMaker in this?

No.

But if you have FileMaker Server, you can have a web interface; and if you have FileMaker Server Advanced, you can have an Instant Web Publishing web interface.
