Harrold
I'm using FM 8.5 In the script that I wrote I do a find and pause. Why is it that sometimes I can press Enter and the Script will continue while other times in a different part of the Script pressing Enter won't continue the script. What are the rules for pressing Enter
aldipalo
Is it another find or some other command? Perhaps you should post a copy of the script and tell us at what point you are looking to continue the script.
David Jondreau
Is the Status Area showing?
LaRetta
What are the rules for pressing Enter If you are trying to perform a find and the script won't run, the fields might (incorrectly) be checked (in Field Control > Behavior) to Go To Next Object using Return Key. [Enter] in Windows systems is actually [Return]. Windows [Enter] is the key on your number pad and yes ... it can be confusing. Harrold
Yes The status Area is showing. I would like to clarify my question. When the status area has the " Continue " or " Cancel " button displayed not always will pressing enter have the effect of continuing.
comment
If you are in Browse mode, and your cursor happens to be in a text field, then pressing RETURN (as opposed to ENTER) will insert a carriage return in the field, instead of continuing the script (at least on a Mac it will). But in Find mode, pressing either key will continue the script. Other than that, I don't know. Why don't you post a file showing the problem? LaRetta
Not on Windows, Michael, not if (in field Behavior) Return Key is checked. On Windows, the Return key is named [Enter] as well. And most everyone on Windows thinks they are the same. If they hit [Enter] on the regular keyboard (and not number pad) and if Return Key is checked, it will not run the script (even in Find Mode). Another difference between versions then! I need to begin listing them all.
comment
I was speaking about the default behavior, i.e. without checking the Return key.
Cabinetman
I know whereof you speak and have not investigated my own to see why... One way I got around it was to use a dialog box with the field I entered the info into... NOT MY IDEA but I forget who to give credit to... maybe Fenton on a barcode scanner question....
