Client stations randomly crash

Featured Replies

We have three computers hooked up to an internet based server.

The host is in California. Our shop is in Seattle.

One of the computers runs FM 10 Advanced.

Two of the computers run FM 9, garden variety.

Several times a day the program just shuts down.

There is no apparent cause for the shut down.

When this happens we get the attached error message.

Any idea what is causing this or how to make it not happen so often?

All three computers shut down around the same time? If the hosting company is reliable, it's likely your internal network. Your router may have the hiccups.

Is the hosting server set to disconnect inactive users?

what shuts down: FM the application or the solution written in FM? In other words: does the FM application keep running but just not the files?

DJ,

I haven't thought to look for that coincidence.

I will the next time it happens.

Wim,

Once again, I'm going to have to pay more attention.

As I recall filemaker continues to run but the solution itself is what crashes.

I don't know if the hosting service is set to disconnect inactive users. I will, if needed, follow that up, but not until I have a backup host lined up.
