uemtux Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I have a repeating field and I need to run a search on the contents of a single repetition across several records. Example: Status[1] = 1 Means a project has been opened. Status[2] = 1 Means it's with an editor Status[3] = 1 Means it's in mockup So what I need to do is find all records where Status[3] = 1 but when you run a search on a repeating field it searches all the repetitions. I didn't realize this when I built my database and now it seems as if I may have to start over! Unless someone can help me run a find that does the job...
mr_vodka Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 You really should ditch the repeating fields and put your data into proper related records, although with your current example, I dont even know why you chose repeaters to begin with.
uemtux Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Yep, it sure may have been a mistake to do it this way, but not if there's an answer to my question. Does anyone know if what I'm asking is possible, or should I just get straight to rebuilding from scratch? Thanks.
comment Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Well, assuming that the stages are "accumulating", you could add a calculation field = Sum ( Status ) and search for "3" in there to find projects that have reached stage 3. I am not sure that's worth the bother, when a simple redesign could solve the issue. In any case, it's not possible to limit a find to a specific repetition.
