file/export - not available

Featured Replies

Permissions have been granted to a user profile for exporting. I can set up an export using a script, but the file/export command from the title bar is not available. Is there a way to open this to a specific user profile?

To verify:

1. You have a Priv Set defined that has Allow Export checked.

2. You have an Account created that is assigned this Priv Set.

3. You have logged in with this account, and:

a) The File Menu does not have the Export Records command

or

: The File Menu has the command, but it is dimmed.

Which is it?

Do you have any custom menu sets defined?

yes to all, and it is dimmed.

Also, possibly related, how do I allow for a profile to "window/new window" open a new window. It is also dimmed.

What about the "Available menu commands" in the privilege setup?

Even if exporting is allowed, when the menu commands are limited to editing or minimum this might also grey out the export command.

Thanks,

I see All, Editing, Minimum. That is it, they are set as editing only. Now the challenge, I want to give them access to export, but definitely not import, and also to open a new window. So I guess what I am saying is I want them to have more priviledges, but not all. How do I do that? Custom Menus? (oh, yippy, yet another totally new thing to learn).

For limiting commands, you should use custom menus. Its better late than never. :P
