The Headache Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Hi All I have 2 different scripts that use 2 different layouts with 2 different custom dialog boxes. Was wondering if there is a way to specify where the dialog boxes open on the screen in the script. If I manually move it during one script it also opens in that position when other script is run. Thanks and I hope this is the right forum. All you guys/gals are always much help. For this post I am working with FM 8.5 Advanced on XP

Raybaudi Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 For this post I am working with FM 8.5 Advanced on XP I think that isn't a good idea to work with other windows on XP, due to the absurd redimensioning of all the windows.
comment Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I thought this issue was solved: http://fmforums.com/forum/showpost.php?post/179233/
Tony Hill Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I would like to chime in here as I have been having this issue with bells on. I use a dialog and also need to show the Import dialog. What I find is that I get three dialog boxes pop up in three different places. It looks really messy and I see no reason why there should not be a way to position the box via code - if FM can remember where the last one was it could reset to a know location or allow the same control as we have with 'new window'. The problem with rewriting to use windows is extra baggage and difference between Mac and Win. If we have to go round to houses to do some basic stuff we soon get to a point when it would be better to use VB.net and SQL.
LaRetta Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 It would even help if we were given a 'Reset Dialog sizes and positions' script step like we can manually achive in Edit > Preferences > General. Or it would be very handy if, in the Show Custom Dialog, we could specify the location of the Custom Dialog right within the script step. But really, if you want anything other than the basic dialogs, you would use a plugin such as Troi Dialog which allows pop-up lists and extended functionality (or use new windows). I admit that lack of control of the dialog boxes can be irritating.
