Hi All, I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction with this contact sheet I’m trying to create. I did a few drawings that explains what I need to do, and what I would wish the system is able to do. (Don’t know if it’s doable)

pretty much I would like to see thumbnails of all images that meet my criteria based on my "Find".

Then I would like to be able to click on a box right by the image(s) so I can populate a contact sheet 2 columns by 3 rows. The main idea is because based on my find I might have 50-100 images and I want to be able to pick 5 or 10 or whatever amount of images and have a report populate with the ones that I've selected. (Don't know if this is possible) This is PART 1 in my PDF

I drew an example of the thumbnail report and also the desired contact sheet.

PART 2 is on the right side, is a little bit more trickier, and again don't know if this would be possible..

I’ve attached the solution that I’m playing with, I‘m hoping that someone can provide me some pointers with my solutions.

Thanks in advance

Nestor,

Yes you can do what you are asking, your goal would be to create a LIST of the parent key of all images you wish to contain in your report.

This list could be in a return separated text field or you can create a child table for each image - this would allow more flexibility to with regard to printing and to sorting options.

I have facilitated requests similar to this, the users would do searches to find images tagged with keywords / dates / descriptions then they would examine images and click a button to add or remove an item to the LIST of selected images ( see http://www.briandunning.com/cf/142) then either write that list into a global field and perform a GTRR or loop thru that list creating a record in a child table, one for each image selected.

When it comes to dealing with images and to improve performance I strongly recommend using SuperContainer for storage of these items.

I'm not sure what you mean by creating a LIST of the parent Key of images ;)

I have 1 table in my solution with a Rec Id all all fields that have the information needed.

Do i create another table If so, what fields should i create in this new table? Scripts?

Sorry if i sounding a little naive..

It depends on your ultimate goal. If you are doing a selection one time and don't need to retain what images were selected for a report then you can use a global field. And use it to find related records for the needed report.

If you wish to create a historical document where only the related images on that report are recorded then the data should be stored in a separate table should you need to re run a report. - And not require you to reselect the data.

GOOD POINT.. A historical Document would be Ideal so users don't have to save the Images to PDF.

Question is there a way to put the report into columns and rows? 3x5 per page, and be able to select thumbnails while in this view?

------------------------------------------

ALSO question about the "report" page.

Once i click on select for 2 images and click on "Show Selected" nothing happens? how can i fix this so i can just show me the images i clicked on. (DISREGARD THIS PART---I FIGURED IT OUT. ;) )

-----------------------------------------------

Thanks for all your help..

Do you have any ideas/methods in how to create "PART 2" Versioning?

The idea is to click on "MIM0001-A" have a new window with this image (MIMI0001-A") and to the right have all Item Numbers with the SAME Item Number, but Different Version. For example

MIM0001-b, MIM0001-c, and so on...

All my item number will be7 characters followed by the dash. I'm hoping my page can look similar to page 3 in my PDF.

Yes this is possible however you would need to use portals in order to show the current found set in portals or by using portals that filter by Product / category. You could have 3 portals the first one is 1 - 5 the second one starts from row 6 - 10 and then 11 - 15.

Would i need to create a different Table since i can create Portals for the same table?

What would i link it 2?
