access forbidden

Hi I run the PHP assistant and save files to the top level of our web site. Upon access I get an Access forbidden message -"There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected"

Everyone is set to read only as per all other web folders.

Maybe related but I cannot see click "preview" in the assistant.

Is index.php a default file for the site?

I have discovered that the PHP engine wasn't installed originally. So all is working now thanks
