David Jondreau Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I was approached by my city's Economic Development Department to build them a database to track the help they provide businesses. Has anyone heard of an already existing application that does that? It doesn't have to be Filemaker.
Lee Smith Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) What kind of activities. You can probably do most of what you need in FileMaker. However, if there are required reporting to the city, state and or federal governments, it might already be in place, and only require some statistical data to support the reporting. Most of the activities of a EDC involved the tracking of activities provided by their councilors, and activities that were required by their charter. This usually involves the activities that Small Business Development Center provide, such as helping business with business plans, projections, obtaining SBA loans, bank loans, and special funds available by CDBC, FHA, etc. for things like job creation and retention. If you want to chat about this, let me know and we can arrange a iChat talk. Lee Edited January 21, 2010 by Guest

I'd hate to make something and then have someone point out there's an industry standard app for that already. Edited January 22, 2010 by Guest
