Can special characters like '"*&%$@! etc break a php web page if the characters are part of the text of a database field? Eg if there is a field called Course Name and the text is "Supervision, How and Why?" will the double quotes or the question mark break the page?

If so how do we prevent this? All advice gratefully received.
