How to structure three related tables

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I feel like a bit of a cheat asking something this basic, but my neurons are just refusing to fire this afternoon, so i thought I'd ask for some help to get me started...

I have a property database with a PROPERTY table, a ROOMS table and an IMAGES table. Each property can have any number of rooms and each room can have any number of images attached to it.

Here's the question... How do i organize this to show the property details, but also allow the user to add rooms and then to add images to those rooms.

I've tried a portal in the property layout to show the rooms per property which works fine, but then i can't figure out how to add images for each room and a portal within a portal is not allowed.

Can i show the rooms and images on a different layout and just show the relevant records depending on which property i select?

Or perhaps i should use a script or a button and go to related records from the property layout.

Sorry if this all sounds a bit confused, but that's precisely why i need a helping hand. I'm not sure where to start, but once someone points me in the right direction I'm sure i can figure out the rest.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond

Andy.

Efan and Bruce,

Thanks so much for the files! At first glance they look like just the help I needed. I'll study them in more detail and get back to you both with my progress.

Cheers!
