I want to import data from a csv file which has a series of dates in it. The only problem is the date is set up day, month, year and file maker reads things month, day, year. How can I import my data so they align?. It is quite a lot of dates from a variety of months. Can I fix it in excel? Is it possible to change the date configuration so the data actual changes it's structure? Nothing seems to work to date. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi The Missing Man, and welcome to the forum.

If I were to see you raw dates, I would see them formatted like:

14 May 2010

14, 5, 2010

14/05/2010

14/5/2010

This is really weird. I want to grab the month out of a date. I thought it was working because all my initial tests worked fine, but after reviewing all my records things are messed up.

Some records grabbed the right month and others didn't. Even within a month sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, which makes no sense at all. All months are being grabbed from the same date field and information input is consistent, so I have no clue what is going on. Any ideas?? Anyone???

I think I have it figured out. I have just switched the first and middle digits with a grab middle and grab right and reorganized them so it sees the information the way it needs to read it.

How did you grab the month ?

IOW which is your calculation ?

Please, write down some examples.

I merged your two topic as they are about the same need.

You could have sped this process up a lot, if you would have answered my question about the date formats.
