Hello everyone, it is the novice that has learned a tremendous amount on this forum already and I can't wait to learn more. I have what is probably a fairly simple question and I have looked through a fair amount of samples but can't seem to find what I am looking for.

Here is what I am looking to do, and a portion of it may not be quite as simple...

1a. I have an Image1 container field with a button below it to insert picture. I would like to write a script for that button that would allow me to seek out the file from Finder in Mac OSX, which I would obviously navigate to iPhoto or a specific folder to "import" the picture into FMP. I need this to also carryover to FileMaker Go for the iPad.

1b. I would also love for the file to be attached as well...so, not only would I be able to see the picture in the form but also the actually file would be attached too, incase I wanted to email a record for someone on the other end to capture the file for their use.

2. ***Extra Credit*** Is it possible to have a button with a script that would allow me to actually capture a new image from the onboard camera on the iPad 2? [eeeeeek]

I have a bad feeling that #2 may be way over my head, but maybe not...

Thanks for all of the help and advice in advance! Please feel free to point me to a thread that has been created referencing this question.

You can just use the script step to "insert Picture" and is probably easiest done as a script trigger on entering the field. this will give you the option to navigate to a finder location.

I dont know of anyway to access iphoto directly from Filemaker (except indirectly if you know where to look in finder for the iphoto data).

Since you cant access the finder (or ipads file structure) in FM Go I don't see how you can do what you want.

There are plenty of persons here who know much more about FM than I so will be happy to told I'm incorrect.

In the second part of your query, Im not sure what you mean by have the file attached but when you place an image into the container it can be done as either a reference or directly into the DB. You can set up a script to create an email with that as the attachment.

I'd say you are out of luck with item 2 as even if you could save the image it would be difficult to access. But as they say 'theres an app for that" so you never know.
