Aussie John Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Is the topic title possible without tailoring each calculation via its relationship to suit the sub summary? In other works my field is the product of two summary fields and the result always resolves via its relationship and not the subsummary.

Aussie John Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 What does "the result always resolves via its relationship" mean? To put into context this is what I am trying to do. A room has an 'occupancy' of people - expressed as a percentage of how many the room can hold. (count of occupants/capacity) A room is occupied or not - expressed as a 'frequency' of use. This info is recorded many times over a week to build up averages of "frequency" and "occupation". (summary fields) These averages are multiplied to give a total "utilisation". (calculation). This calculation is fine for an overall result but not if I sub-summarise. I have attached a file to hopefully make it clearer. The attached example (see next post) is simplified to summarise by day but the real database will need to summaries by many different categories eg size of room, use of room, owner of room. All mixed and matched in different sorting orders. By using relationships I can get a correct result for utilisation but this will require a new calculation for each sort. (and possibly different layouts to show) I am hoping for a more simple flexible method. Comment, to answer your question: I made my calculation "evaluate this calculation from the context of…related table" (as per the calculation dialog). In my example the field is "utilisation av by DAY" cheers Forgot to add file
