I have Filemaker 5 unlimited and Lasso 5.

I am having a hard time setting up a Raic that Lasso sees.

Since i am using Os X server 10.13 I decided to use a friends web connector for filemaker 5.5. This seems to work well with Os X server.

Here are my questions.

1. Once I set up Raic via terminal can I close the window or do I have to leave it open?

2. By using web connector 5.5 will this cause a problem?

3. Is Lasso 5 compat. with this setup?

I do not as yet use Lasso V OSX etc. (but plan to soon) ..... this is how I understand the setup will work when using WebSTAR as the Web Server software. You have not mentioned which web server u will be using.

Box 1: WebSTAR on OSX

Box2: Lasso V on OSX

Box3: Filemaker Unlimited 5.5 on OSX (should also work with OS 9.x, I think it is probably best to stick to OSX though)

Box 4 (Optional but recommended) Filemaker Server OSX

The RAIC is controlled by the applications rather than the OS (you mention setting up the RAIC thru terminal - not being that familiar with OSX / UNIX i assume this is what u mean)

WebSTAR (thru the Lasso plugin) knows the IP of your Lasso box. Lasso in turn knows the IP of your Filemaker client thru it's setup (I assume this will be similar in setup as the 3.x FMRemote module). Filemaker Unlimited has the database open thru "hosts" which resides on your Filemaker server.

As far as I know WSC is not compatible with WebSTAR V....I'm not sure how WSC will interact with Lasso.....with 3.x u set FMRemote to look at the IP of the server running WSC to find the databases......

below is a copy of a Q and A email correspondence with BlueWorld it may answer some questions

>The Professional Standard version has no tag or visitor restriction but,

>it is not possible to load balance.

This is correct. Lasso Professional 5 does not add load balancing

functionality to web servers. This is more of a function of the web

server(s) and their network configuration.

>The Professional Enterprise version is as above, but includes redundancy,

>clustering, more security features etc. etc.

True.

>Both versions (Enterprise & Standard) will run on a separate server and

>not on the WebSTAR machine.

True.

>If I was to buy two copies of professional (A and : and connect to the

>two WebSTAR's (A and : would I be correct in assuming that the WebSTAR A

>would not be able to utilise the Lasso server of WebSTAR B if it's Lasso

>A server became unavailable?

Correct. The license agreement for standard edition only covers one

server at a time.

>If I was to buy one copy of Lasso would both WebSTAR's be able to talk to

>it?

Not at the same time. See above.

>Is this a setup that requires (or would be better serviced) by your

>Enterprise Version.

Your setup does not require enterprise edition, but perhaps might benefit

from it . However, Enterprise Edition will not be released at the same

time as standard edition, and the release date is currently not set.

Also, two licenses of Standard Edition can come in handy for redundancy

and troubleshooting (in case the machine running Lasso Service fails).

Hope this is of some use...there may be some other Lasso guys out there that currently use Lasso V they may be able to help with more specific information

Thanks for the reply.

The Raic works now but its not consistent. About every 4th search or lasso record it doesnt respond.

I have since went to using a single host.

I called a few people about this and they said FM raic was never very good.

Maybe i can find some third party sw to set it up.

Again thanks for your reply it was helpful.
