Need help with a search script. Need to be able to type in a search box the numbers 0-9999 and find the matches in these 14 categories:

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 1

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 2

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 3

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 4

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 5

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 6

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 7

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 8

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 9

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 10

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 11

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 12

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 13

SHEKINAH ART 1::Source RecNum 14

Can message more details or screenshots if needed. Will also donate some paypal dollars for the help since I’m getting nowhere. I attached a screenshot of another find script I'm trying to emulate to give an idea.

Thanks

Chuck

My suggestion: create a child table of Shekinah Art to store the values you put in those 14 Source RecNum fields, then search there (in just 1 field!) and go to the related Shekinah Art records. A tidier structure and a simpler search logic.

While I was preparing my response, eos responded.

I'll go ahead with my post, as it may help you think your need through.

Without seeing your file, I'm not sure if I am understanding what you are wanting as a result?

Can you find the these records using Finding ranges of information i.e. something like this

Enter Find

enter field Source your field RecNum?

0..9999

perform find

eos did suggest what I was going to suggest as my second part, and that is this might be better structured usng a relationship.

I agree with eos about simplifying your design. That said, I'd suggest you create a layout that has the field you want to search on it. Then create a script that goes to that layout and does a Perform Quick Find, then returns to the original layout. Attach the script to a button or use a script trigger on your search field.
