Hi all

I have a slightly unusual problem

I have a table which has two layouts - one for browsing and the other for finding

The find layout is controlled only by custom buttons and menus

I set it up so that when someone hits the perform find button it runs a script which takes them back to the browse layout

This seemed to be working fine except the only machine where this works is the one with filemaker advanced on. It does not work on any of the other machines

The script does not seem to run - it goes into browse mode on the same layout - something I am trying to avoid as I want to keep the two modes distinct

Does anyone know what could be causing this

I am using filemaker pro advanced 9 on a windows machine - all of the other machines are macs with either 8.5 or 9.0 pro on them

I have tested it on several machines signing on as the administrator and it only works on the windows machine with FM Adv 9.0 on

Any ideas or theories on this would be most welcome

Many thanks

Posted a pdf of your script.

OR

Search the forums for an example Find script that I posted. I'm sorry, but don't have the time now to search for you.

Hello

I have searched the forums already - the problem is not the script as far as I can see

There is a custom menu set which replaces the perform find button on the left hand panel with a script

This works fine on the machine which has filemaker developer but on none of the other machines even with admin access

Does anyone know why this could be happening - do I need to do a runtime version

Hi Johnny,

I wouldn't suspect it being the difference between Pro and Advanced because they are the *same. Here are a few considerations:

  • Is it true then that only the Windows machine works? That might point to a multiple-window issue.
  • You mention 8.5 and 9.0 ... are both versions on their latest updater? Windows should be 9.0v3.
  • You mention custom menu replacing find. Do all Users get the same menu set in both browse and find in this process? If a function isn't appearing on custom menu, the function will not run so a different menu set during script firing could break it.
  • Install 9.0 Advanced on a Mac which breaks and walk it through debugger. What happens?

Otherwise Barbara is right ... we would need to see your script (or a zipped copy of your file). We'll help you figure it out.

* they are the same build - Advanced only has additional features.

Hello

Just to clarify - the menu set replaces the perform find command with a script - when you click on the custom find button - it takes you to the find layout and puts it into find mode

So what I need to do is when the person clicks on the find button (on the status panel) in find mode after they have entered the criteria it runs a script which performs the find and takes them back to the browse layout

At the moment it works on my version of 9 adv on windows xp - it also works fully on another window machine with 8.5v1

On all of the macs it works if people access the command from the menu at the top but if they click on the find button on the left hand menu it does not work regardless of which version of Filemaker they have, it does the find then goes into browse mode on the wrong layout

Anyone got any ideas
