How can I select all fields in a layout and make them say 20 pixels deep not the 16 to 17 they currently are ?

and also distribute them correctly, the database I am working on seems to pull them off the page when I try to distribute the space between them automatically...

If you select one field and set the height correctly you can then select all the other fields and use the "arrange" menu item to resize to the largest height.

As to distributing them: that's a manual chore I'm afraid.  The Inspector will help you by reporting the top and bottom positions...

    In FM 10 or below,  Object Info (in the View menu) was the precursor to the Inspector.

    You can also "Select Same" by clicking on one field and then use the Menu >>  Edit >> Select Same (Cmd + Opt + Shift on a Mac)
