I am new here but whenever I search for things in this forum. I get about a million answers that don't relate to my question. I must be doing something wrong. I just looked up changing object color and nothing came up so I am asking here.

I like to know if it is possible to change the color of graphical squares and circles in filemaker that are in the layout by calc or do I just have to go to another layout?

Thank you

The simple (and fastest) method would be to use text characters for the squares and circles, with conditional formatting applied. The Webdings font is especially useful for this purpose:

Thanks Lee but I don't understand how it changes color without a script. I don't see any additional options in the fields. I just don't get it. How does it change the colors?

I modified my demo file in hopes that is will simplify what is being done.

There is more than one way to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Doug's link shows how to use Repeating fields,  and it essentially does the same thing as my suggestions.

You have a value list "color" and two ways to accomplish the change in the text box.

Self_Fromatted is all contained in the field. In Layout Mode, click on Self_Fromatted and you can look at the Conditional Formatting used.

The second approach uses the same value list "color" in Color Values and the Conditional Formatting is determined by the selection in Color Values
