madman411 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 my system is being designed on a mac, and it's looking pretty good - clean, user friendly windows, and it looks like an independent application as the filemaker interface is transparent. however, it is going to be used cross-platform. when the application is opened in windows, the filemaker background is grey and unattractive, and the interface windows have grayed out scrollbars on the right and bottom of each of each frame. any way to clean this up on windows? i need to leave the database inside of the filemaker application as i will be doing layout updates and changes as the system grows. if only our users were all using macs...
HALBURN Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I have developed Mac only FileMaker solutions for several years until my current project. What a nightmare! The Windows implementation of FileMaker is a freaking joke. No matter what you do it will look like someone hit your solution with an ugly stick. Not to mention how messed up portal scrolling, mouse wheel scrolling and windows within windows is. My advise is to run, don't walk, to the nearest exit!
LaRetta Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Oh please - get a grip. Windows users are USED TO the uglier scrolls etc and many Windows-based companies love using FM. Of course most have never tried Mac so they do not know what they are missing, lol. Windows users are not an evil breed and FMI provides cross-compatible including iOS and we are only database that does and although not perfect Windows holds the majority of the PC market so don't run ... Embrace. Madman there is nothing that can be done - they are Windows users and most wouldn't even consider a change and FM with Windows is what it is.
HALBURN Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I don't have a problem with Windows, it's FileMaker's implementation of their software on Windows that drives me mad. There are a few key areas where the lazy programers at FileMaker have really dropped the ball. I am getting too old to have the patience to kiss their butts while I wait for them to fix their software. They need to start firing people and hire some new talent and fix it already. They gave us some cool features in FM12 at the expense of performance. They made some great improvement to FMGO12 (but the improvements just "seem" great) when compared to the worthless piece of garbage that they gave us in FMGO11. There are so many GUI related issues that they are aware of but do not fix update after update. Seriously, what the heck is going on at FileMaker, Inc.?
Aussie John Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I'd be happy if fonts rendered the same.
