Macman756 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I am new to FM and am stuck on auto filling out fields. I know what I'm trying to do is possible, just don't know how. Let's say I have a list of Companies, CompanyA, CompanyB, and CompanyC. I have in my layout Company NAME: ADDRESS: CITY: STATE: ZIP: I want a drop down from Company NAME, Select that company, and have the Address, City, State and Zip fill in by itself. Do I need a table for each company then relate them somehow? I've played with it but can't get it. Can someone walk me through this? Thanks!
Lee Smith Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Have you looked at Contacts.FMP12 in the templates came with your application?
Macman756 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 I just did. Doesn't look it uses an auto populate that I can see. No lookups
Macman756 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Any ideas anyone? The contacts template does not auto populate at all.
Brooks Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Without seeing your file. Two things I would suggest. 1. If you already have the info stored why store it again? Use a merge field showing data from a related Table Occurance that contains the company info. 2. If you do want to enter it again and it is not related for some reason, use a set field with executeSQL.
