Rick Whitelaw Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I'm attaching an image that shows a small grey square about half way down on the right side. Does anyone know why this might be there? I can't find any evidence of it in layout mode, but it always prints. Rick.test.pdf.zip
webko Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Try entering Layout mode and using Aple + A to select everything... See if there's some handles in that area
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Thanks for the reply. No handles though. The horizontal lines are records in a portal. On the pdf I uploaded the grey area would be at the end of the last portal row. However, since no records are displayed I doubt this is relevant, The square appeared after converting from 11 to 12.
dansmith65 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 If you create a new layout and copy/paste the objects from the current layout to the new, does it still print?
LaRetta Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 It appears to me that you have a button (row) solid grey (or with conditional formatting on) and it is sitting under the white rows (which have fill white on). And the reason you may not see handles way to the right where the gray rectangle shows is because it has auto-size for the right set on (anchors). IOW, its handles are under the row and hidden and the rectangle is probably NOT that wide at all. That's my WAG.
LaRetta Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Oh, so if this is a possibility that there is rectangle hidden under those rows, decrease the rows until it is uncovered so you can see it to grab it for deletion.
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Tried shrinking the portal so it was out of the way. No joy. The small grey rectangle doesn't appear to exist! It's still there in Preview mode and it prints.
LaRetta Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Can you attach the file or send it to me? I am intrigued! I've had this happen but it has always been an errant object (jumping because of anchors) or conditional formatted text block.
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 The PDF is attached to the original post. Cannot post the file.
Lee Smith Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Cannot post the file. Sure you can, we don't need to see your records, only the layout of conversation. This would allow us to test it on our system to see if this might be corruption, and allow us to open it up to verify that we are not overlooking something too.
LaRetta Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 That is also why I suggested back channel. And yes, I saw the pdf.
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Lee, Never done this. It's a huge file with 45 or so tables. How would I post just the one layout? Thanks, Rick.
Lee Smith Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Save a Clone with no records. If there are some layouts that you don't want use to see, just delete them. Right now, I'm only focused on the one layout.
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks Lee. However, the entire schema would be visible, no? I don't mean to sound paranoid, but I don't want to make my design freely available. Then again, this is only one file of a seven file solution. Thanks, Rick.
LaRetta Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Hey Rick, I think I have another idea. One thing I dislike about FM is the ugly scroll bar on portals so I always place a solid rectangle over them and place my own arrows so I didn't spot your issue right off the bat but see if this example might fit. Here I removed the rectangle for a single scroll bar so you could see what it looks like underneath and if there are more records than fit, it will produce the ugly scroll. I realize you said there were no records but still, this struck me as possibility. I hope you work it out.
