HELP!! When trying to insert an object (specifically a MS word Doc) into a container field I keep getting.

FMP cannot complete this operation because of an OLE (0X80004002) error.I get the same error on 2 different machines.

Can anyone explain what this means an how to fix it.

Container fields cannot take MS Word Documents. You'll have to convert it to plain text then it should work, or do a copy and paste.

From my experience the OLE embedding between FileMaker and MS products is at times unstable, the best route is to Link as opposed to just inserting the object (see tick box during insertion routine). This also limits the size of your database especially if you are storing the documents elsewhere anyway.

Thanks for the input ... although I still get the OLE error even on a link.. I cant even get that far. I get the error even B4 i can browse to the file I want to link to
