Everything was working fine then yesterday I came home and it was locked up with an error type 2. FMP locks up when accessed from the web., both instant web publishing and custom web publishing act the same. When I restart FMP it loads up until the tcp/ip and then the whole computer freezes. I have downloaded the latest updates for FMP. I am using a G4/os9.1/ASIP6.3/1 database served.

The ASIP web&file server works jsut fine when all this is going on but FMP is acting crazy all of a sudden. Any suggestions?

Are you running ASIP and FMP or Server on the same box? That's generally considered BAD. Very bad.

Thanks for the Ideas,

Yes I am using the same box. this is just a small web site for a local band using FMP for schedule updates. I checked for port conflicts but didn't see any.

I have tried deleting the preferences and basic things like that, but no help.

Thanks,

Dan

Reinstall FMPro as you could have either a damaged application file or a damaged FileMaker Extension. - and don't forget to put the new WC in after reinstall - it's probably worth downloading a new one aswell.

If this doesn't fix it then i would have a look at your extensions.

Running ASIP and FMPro on the same box is not recommended but will work fine for small stuff like yours. You may find you get better performance if you schedule regular reboots to clear up the memory issues with this setup .... but you should be OK and it shouldn't be causing this problem.

I could be wrong, but I think a Type 2 error is a memory error. Have you tried increasing the minimum memory allocation for you web browser and restarting? I have sometimes seen this error with IE 5.1 Mac (sorry, I have fundamental problems with Netscape) It seems to me that MacOS memory management has always been terrible...that is until OSX

Well I tried all of the above to no avail so I started thinking it had to be a problem with the OS. I upgraded the OS to 9.2.1 and then did a fresh load of FMP from disk and then downloaded and installed all updates. Everything working again.

Thank you for the help.

Dan
