jfrick Posted May 21, 2002 Posted May 21, 2002 Help! I'm developing a database in MS-Access that creates new work order records via Outlook custom forms. I started out using Access and hated Filemaker when I was forced to learn it at my new job. Three years later I now realize that Filemaker is much easier to work with and has few limitations. Does anyone know how I can create a record in FileMaker via Outlook custom forms?
IdealData Posted May 21, 2002 Posted May 21, 2002 Why are you using Outlook to drive a database of any description ? Is it because you would need the Access licence for each machine, but Outlook is effectively free ?
jfrick Posted May 21, 2002 Author Posted May 21, 2002 We want the user to fill out description and location info on what needs servicing and send that info via email (Outlook). Then we have their correct email address.
leahbrooks Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 I would recommend using a FileMaker script to send email. The Send mail script step opens a new message using Outlook, and you can designate fields in FMP to be part of the subject or body of the email.
Anatoli Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 With plugin you can have FM performing like full email client. Each received email is just new record
