Bar Codes (Printer, Scanners, Software)

Hi all, I'm designing a large FileMaker database and I'm now lookin to integrate bar coding into my database. I need some suggestions on printers and readers, and what is the best way to go about this challenge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a FileMaker solution which uses bar codes. Everything seems to work fine within the database itself, but when the codes are printed, space appears between each character of the bar code, making the scanner not scan the code correctly. It isn't FileMaker specific, since I copied and pasted the bar code into a SimpleText document and the same thing happened. The spaces don't appear in SimpleText or in Preview mode in FileMaker. They are printing to an HP LaserJet 8000 series printer using Desktop Printing on a Mac via TCP/IP. I tried printing via AppleTalk instead, but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks, Chuck

Problem: Attempting to insert a jpg image from a digital camera into a container field; procedure works OK on three out of four machines (all Win2K)--on fourth machine, insertion results in being able to view just a fraction of the image; FM Tech Support suggests problem may be FM5-video driver conflict on problem machine. I'm trying to have Filemaker automatically create barcodes of certain fields, but am not having any success.

How do I get FileMaker to print a variety of barcodes? I would like to be able to enter data in one field and then have a report generated that has a barcode of the same information.

Can I get filemaker to create bar-codes from zip codes (or other numbers)?

Are there any POS printers that work in the Windows95 or 98 enviroment with FMPro5? Thanks John

I am looking for a card printer that works with no fuss on Windows NT 4.0 and Filemaker Pro 4.1. We are using Eltron P310 and P400 now and having major problems. It needs to print color photos, as these are employee badges. Any suggestions?
