  1. I just decided to make drop down menus and avoid it all together
  2. I have the same problem. If you have found a solution Sleepinggypsy please let me know. thanks, Kaduby
  3. I am having the same problem. personally, I am using global fields for search criteria and it isn't getting deleted, it is simply going to a new line in the field. (if you were to scroll up in the field then you would find what you priviously typed) This is a big problem for searches because people think what they have typed is deleted and they re-type it only to find no results in their search. I have tried to change the enter key to work as the tab key and simply go to the next field but it doesn't work in the browsers. If anyone has any suggestions I'm sure we would both love the help. Thanks Kaduby
  4. Hi, I have a database of real estate clients with all their information (address, phone, etc.) I also have a file on my computer for each client with contracts and other paper work they need to fill out when buying a house. (about 40 documents) What I want to do: 1. I would like to be able to go into my client database and from a layout get to all of the pdf files. I have tried making a layout with a bunch of containers but it is always tacky and hard to quickly view and print the documents. 2. I would also like to be able to import the documents hassle free and have missing documents highlighted. Thanks for any suggestions you might have, I have been racking my brain with this one. Kaduby
  5. Thanks for both of your replies. AudioFreak, the dummy field improves the organization somewhat so thanks for the idea. Copy and pasting layouts is what Ive been doing so I guess that is what I will continue to do. Vaughan, your letter merge example seems promising. I am going to look at it a little more before I start to use it.
  6. I was wondering if there was a way to organize layouts into folders or seperate lists. I am starting to built up databases with way too many layouts mostly for sending letters out to clients and it is becoming unorganized. Also, I was wondering if there is a easy way to copy layouts from one database to another. Right now I only have the client version of filemaker. Do I need to purchase the advanced version? Thanks for the help, Kaduby
  7. hey Mr. Vodka, That example was great it was exactly what I was trying to do with some pictures I have. The only thing that I was wondering is how to set the default picture as the first portal section. Right now when i flip between records it run kind of tacky by still showing a picture from the last record viewed. If you have any ideas let me know thanks, Kaduby
  8. Hey I am having the same problem. I have found a way around the problem by getting a google API key and hosting the simple map on the web. http://www.google.com/apis/maps/ The maps nice because it only shows the map and a small search box. Plus, you can make it any size you want. The problem is that I have not found a way to load addresses from my client database into the map when I open a layout. Right now, I simply copy and paste addresses from my layout into the search box. I hope this gets you in the right direction and if you find a way to link your database addresses let me know
