djgogi Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Disabling menu without plug-ins? Smart navigation thru external files? I don't know how many times I saw those questions on various Fm forums. Well, this is how I deal with it. Hope you'll find this solution useful . Dj Disabling Menu.zip
Vaughan Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Thanks for sharing DJ -- I've downloaded it and will take a look tomorrow (it's too late tonight!).
LaRetta Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Hi Dj, I'm anxious to explore your example - but how do I enter the password if it doesn't ask me? No options are available to change Admin rights. What do I need to do to access its innards? Oh thank you for sharing with us! LaRetta
djgogi Posted January 16, 2003 Author Posted January 16, 2003 On Mac hold alt when launching the file, on PC hold shift Dj
LaRetta Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Hi Dj, Well, it then asked for the password, but I still can't access field defs or scripts and Access Priv is still disabled What did I do wrong? LaRetta
djgogi Posted January 16, 2003 Author Posted January 16, 2003 Sorry, forgot to mention: Click on "Open Script Editor" button Dj P.S. Call to any of "Open menu Item" steps will HALT any paused script
Lee Smith Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Hi DJ, Thanks for sharing. Nice scheme, even with the instructions, it took me a few minutes to figure out why the menu 1, 2, 3. were important. Duh.
falkaholic Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 Just putting this into a file right now. It works great except you can get around the window menu lock out in OSX. Using the standard Command-` keystoke, which rotates through the open windows of an app, you can go through all the open (and open hidden) windows. Not a huge concern, it will stop 99% of users from getting lost, but if you locking out where it counts, you might want to consider some secondary measures.
djgogi Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 Don't know what to say. OSX 10.2 FM 6.04 everything blocked, no shortcuts available. BTW didn't notice this behaviour neither with earlier versions of FM or OSX Dj
falkaholic Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Its a keystroke that works in every app I've tried. Its in now way specific to FM. It command - ` (the ~ key) in the top left corner of most (all?) english keyboards, just below escape. You can use it in your web brower to the Finder. Just remember, it only windows that are open in the current app.
