LVA Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I have a solution in Filemaker Pro 5.5 using windows 2000 server and Filemaker Pro 5.5 client and I need a web solution so my client can read filemaker data on the intranet and internet. I have some doubts about the option Filemaker has for a web solution. With Filemaker Pro I need another machine with an IP and Filemaker Pro installed. The files need to be open, but I can only have 10 user for a period of 12 hours. With Filemaker Unlimited I have unlimited user access and I also need another machine with an IP and filemaker Unlimited to host the files ? With Lasso do I have unlimited user access ? Do I need Lasso Professional on a separate machine other than the server machine ? What else do I need to have the solution I already have (a server machine with Filemaker Server 5 and 8 client machines with Filemaker Pro 5.5) and an intranet / internet solution for the same system ? For the time being I need intranet / internet only to read dada.
LiveOak Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 You should use a separate machine to run FM Unlimited. FileMaker Inc.'s license requires that you use FM Unlimited for web hosting, even when using Lasso. You should NOT run FM Unlimited or Lasso on the same machine as FM Server. You will need to rethink how your FM solution works for web access. FM Client is session based, FM web hosted is transaction based, which leads to some differences in approach. -bd
Anatoli Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 But you can run the IIS, Lasso and Unlimited on single machine.
LVA Posted February 27, 2003 Author Posted February 27, 2003 I've been looking for informations at blueworld site about working with lasso on the webserver and they don't say that it's necessary to have FM Unlimited with lasso. Is it possible to use IIS and Lasso and NOT use Ulimitted on the web server ?
