one of my databases contains a container field. In the container field i have pictures stored. On my mac where the database runs it is easy; i copy a picture and paste it into the container field and voila, their it is.

Now i want this functionality with CDML.

My problem is that (at least i think) that FMP-Fields can not be graphics.

My question is twofold:

1] is it possible that the user copies a graphical object into a input field that can be submitted to a database

2] if the above is not possible how can i transfer a graphical file (JPG) to my server database.

Sorry for this open question,

any help is highly appreciated

1] not possible

2] you may copy the file to server with another transport than FM and store link to that graphic in text field of FM. Then it is easy to display such graphic file in web page.

If you have just two fields, one field to identify each record, and one container field containing a .jpg in each record, how many records do you anticipate having before you fill 2gig?

Is it not better to store just the reference in the db file?

Well thanks for all your suggestions,

being spoiled with easy to use apps (filemaker) and easy OS (X), you

(well I) get the feeling everything is possible.

Thanks for bringing me back to earth.

I know that applescript on the serverside can do a portion of the job.

Maybe javascript on the client-side can do another portion of the job.

I thought i have seen a filetransfer command in javascript, i will check the javascipt book on that on.

Thanks for all,

Jitse
