June 4, 200322 yr Hi, How one filed can be automatically populated with the value of the field from a record from another table? I think I can use a lookup but I
June 4, 200322 yr if you use a lookup, it all depends on how you set up your relation. Start by creating a portal, figure out correct keys & sorting for the relation, the top value in portal is the one you get by lookup.
June 4, 200322 yr Author Hi, I got the following error message when I tried to define a lookup: "This lookup uses the filed
June 4, 200322 yr Hello Milen, Funny that you consequently write 'field' as 'filed' in your posts. Took some time to get used to... Anyway, if you try to use a lookup on a field that is actually used in the relation that you are using for that lookup you get this message. This is because such a lookup would actually trigger a new lookup, which would trigger a new lookup, which would trigger a new lookup, which would trigger a new lookup, which would trigger a new lookup, shall I stop now? Suppose you get the idea... Best regards, Ernst.
June 4, 200322 yr Milen, Apart from the funny "filed", you would gain by posting in a continuous thread rather than posting the quite same "problem issue" in different threads. There are currently 3 threads opened for your same problem. Not really duplicate though, but not really efficient IMO.

June 9, 200322 yr Author Hi guys, Thank you all for the help! Christian: Thank you for pointing me to the portals! Proper sorting did the job for me. Ernst, Ugo: Yes "field"-"filed" it was a typo... My fingers are still quicker than my mind Ugo: Yes, understand that it would be much better posting the similar questions in one thread only ... The reason I posted my questions in different threads was that I thought the problems are different... Again thank you all for the help!
