Why doesn't FMU run as a deamon?

I find it extremely annoying that FMU doesn't run as a daemon and is solely a server app.....

I don't think my OSX machine should have to log into an account to run a FMU served DB. (of course I also have the same problems with FMServer).

On Windows we discovered this 4-5 years ago. FMU is NOT server app; it is still exactly the same as FMP with "marketing" limits removed.

FMS is just service on Windows, so no login required for past 7 years or so.

This really goes back quite a way to Filemaker 5 and developments that "could have" happened then....instead of the sad KLUDGE that Filemaker unlimited turned out to be.

We can only hope that things will get better with subsequent versions of Filemaker.....
