I currently run FileMaker 3 under OS 7.5. What is involved in upgrading to FileMaker 6 under OSX 10.2? I remember reading somewhere that the file structure was changed.By the time I do this Panther will probably be available.

I have one main file and three related files, with a few calculated fields and a few simple scripts.

If complicated, is there a tech info document on this subject?

For what its worth, I upgraded a major solution (40 db) from 4 to 5 with no (read zero!) troubles. Just remember to make a backup (or 3) before you open in 6 and test out the scripts before you finally make the leap.

the file 'format' changed when FM upgraded from 3 to 4 that was (I believe) invisible to the user and gave (supposedly) better performance.

There are some printing issues with FM and OSX, check that forum for more info about that. Going from 3 to 6 you will find millions of new things you can do to extend your database. !

Hello. I can't seem to find how to post on this forum, so I am going to ask my question this way. I recently upgraded to 6.0. I was deleting duplicate files last week with no problem. But the day after I finished a large task, and attempted to delete a few more, the progrqam stated that it couldn't find delete_.fp3. I searched for it, to no avail. I found delete_old, and recovered it, both in my old filemaker and then new, but that didn't help. still same message: can't find it. I ensured I was using the proper names file, but that wasn't the problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Lisa, a common mistake after recovering a file is to remove the word "recovered" from the file name, but not remember to also remove the space before "recovered." Could that be it? Oh, and if it's asking for filex.fp3, maybe it's the file extension that's confusing it. When it asks, point it to the new file with the .fp5 extension.
